Baby Mason’s Medical Fund Helping Roy and Haley

Updates are at the bottom.
Roy and Haley have been excited to welcome their baby (Mason) into this world. At twenty weeks it was found that Mason had pulmonary atresia. Then at thirty one weeks Haley started having preeclampsia. Haley missed a lot of work. She was on bed rest for two months. At thirty five weeks Haley was admitted into the hospital. With his known heart issue the doctors were hoping he would not come until 7/26. Mason weighed 5 pounds 4 oz and was taken to Children's within an hour of being born. Unfortunately he had to be intubated and due to the stress on his little body he is on lots of meds. He is due to have the balloon surgery 7/22 but one of his lungs are not working so they are doing a CT scan and doing another Nuero check. He will also need a stent surgery within a week. It is $10 a day to park at Children’s. Haley can eat for free but Roy has to pay for all his meals. Roy, Haley and Mason are going to need all the support they can get. They have a very long road ahead of them. Haley will need to return back to work in eight short weeks unless she can afford to take FMLA and stay home a little longer. Medical expenses are going to be a lot over the next several years. They have insurance but it doesn’t cover everything at 100%. If you can give please do but if you can’t please know your prayers, text and love means so much to Roy and Haley. They want to THANK everyone from the bottom of their hearts. Right now Mason’s health is Roy and Haley’s main focus. If they don’t respond or answer please know they feel your love and are grateful for it. #TeamMason #Fighting4Mason #Praying4Mason

Please help us share this.

Before birth it was discovered Mason would need a pulmonary atresia repair surgery within his first week of life and possibly three surgeries by the age of three.

Pulmonary atresia is a birth defect (pronounced PULL-mun-airy ah-TREE-sha) of the heart where the valve that controls blood flow from the heart to the lungs doesn't form at all. In babies with this defect, blood has trouble flowing to the lungs to pick up oxygen for the body.

7/25 Today is a big and exciting day. Mason will have his heart balloon at 1. Please join us in praying for him and his medical team.

Update: Unfortunate news, the procedure has been moved once again. There's another case going on before his in the cath lab today and there's been a complication. While we are disappointed that our Mason won't be getting his procedure today. Masons procedure will be taking place tomorrow morning around 8:30 so he will be first. And there should be little reason for any further delay.

7/26 Mason is out of his procedure, he did amazingly! If the ballon takes(which they think it will) he won’t need a stent next week!

7/27 A couple hours after his procedure Mason started bleeding very badly last night in his groin where they went in. The DRs held pressure on the site for over an hour and it finally stopped bleeding. He had to receive blood due to this. His heart rate was very high and BP was very low. They gave him a ton of meds to help his heart rate & BP. He is currently not bleeding and heart rate and blood pressure are stable. Hoping he can get weaned off some medication today.

7/31 Sweet mason He’s had a rough couple of days, he’s more awake and is getting agitated very easily. I know he is so tired of this breathing tube. Looks like he is going to need the stent afterwards, we will know more in the next couple of days. Tomrrow is a big day for him, he is getting a pic line because his ivs keep going bad and he’s just getting poked too much! He is also probably going to get a NG tube tomorrow (feeding tube) so he can start finally having some of mommas breast milk! I love you sweet boy. Haley

8/5
Masons PDA has finally closed enough for him to get the stent! He is scheduled for procedure number two tomorrow afternoon. Prayers that all goes smoothly & he doesn’t bleed a lot like he did with his first procedure. He was also able to finally receive some breast milk! We are so thankful to everyone at Children’s-Dallas! From the DRs, nurses, respiratory therapist, techs, PT, OT and speech therapy. Everyone has been so amazing to Mason, Roy and I. Literally all angels I love you bubba, you got this!
