Donation protected
Baby Magdalene, aka Maggie Grace was born healthy and content on Jan, 13th, 2017 and was welcomed by her 4 siblings, and parents Sophia and Tony Nunez. On Feb. 6, her Sophia (my daughter) noticed something was very wrong. Maggie Grace was rushed to one of Portland's finest Children's Hospitals in Portand (name of hospital withheld for privacy). After two days of extensive tests, it was determined that baby Maggie has acute Bacterial Meningitis. For those who aren't familiar with the severity of this form of meningitis, it is the most severe, rare and dangerous. If a baby of this age survives, she is faced with the potential for long term, even life-long effects from a swollen brain and spinal cord surrounded with infected fluid. This afternoon my daughter texted: "She's in a huge amount of pain. So much she can't be touched. I can't nurse her or console her."
The Nunez family are faced with weeks of intensive therapy and hospitilization with a portion of that time in ICU. Although the family does have some insurance, it is not enough to cover the exorbitant costs of this kind of care. The family is also in need of child-care since Mom is a stay at home Mom caring for their children and the prime "engineer of operations" in the home.
Many of you who know our family have been praying for Maggie's healing, strength for Mom and Dad, and understanding for the young siblings at home who are scared and don't quite understand what's going on.
We are all so grateful for the praying that has been spoken on Maggie's behalf. We believe in the power of prayer, and the power that prayer provides to change a particular diagnosis or path. Basically, we're a family who believes in miracles and we're asking for one now.
Knowing now that she will be in the hospital for 2-4 weeks, we are asking for those who are able to consider donating something to the "Baby Magdalene" fund to help with the additional expenses that are being incurred.
Fortunately, the family is part of a great church community, (I like to call them their village) that are rallying around them to help as best they can, but they need consistant help now. A steady, known and skilled caregiver is necessary to offer some stability to the young ones at home.
If you are able to help the Nunez family with a financial donation for their medical and child care costs they would be so grateful for your help. Any amount, truly great or small will help! You might be providing a meal for Sophia as she stays in the hospital with her baby Maggie, or two hours of child care so Tony can go be with Mommy and baby. There are many ways your donation would be appreciated. If we can share this with all our friends, and their friends with theirs, we might be able to meet the first goal of $10,000.
If you aren't able to give but still want to help, please pray for our little Magdalene, aka Maggie Grace.
Thank you!
