Hello, My name is Katelyn and im a mum to three beautiful children my youngest child Macey-Mai was born with a rare skin condition called Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus with her largest Nevus covering her entire back and sides with another large sized Nevus on her head and also over 100 satellite nevi all over her entire body of all different sizes, this skin condition only affects 1 in every 20,000 babies worldwide, usually caused by a single genetic mutation that occurs very early on in pregnancy. With also the recent diagnosis of an extremely rare type of melanoma associated with the same gene responsible for her CMN skin condition (NRAS melanoma) When Macey-Mai was born on May 7th 2025 I created this GoFundMe a few weeks later to help cover the cost of travel expenses to medical appointments 240 miles from our home, accommodation and also anything necessary for Macey-Mai’s care. When Macey-Mai was born she had seven painful bleeding lesions on her largest CMN on her back which all grew very rapidly causing her a lot of extreme pain daily. Macey-Mai underwent surgery to have all seven lesions removed and each was sent for a biopsy to check to see if a rare form of melanoma was present within any of them. Unfortunately after a long few months waiting for all the results we heartbreakingly received the terrifying news that one of these lesions did in fact contain this aggressive and deadly form of melanoma within it (not the type we hear of older people getting from the sun UV) this type of melanoma is linked to the same gene thats  responsible for Macey-mai being born with CMN. Macey-Mai underwent a PET/CT scan on may the 6th to see if the melanoma found within this lesion has caused any distant spreads to organs or caused any widespread tumours in her body we are currently waiting for an appointment with specialist oncologist to go over the results from this scan, this type of melanoma is rare but also highly aggressive and spreads fast to nearby lymph nodes and organs. We will be discussing treatments once we know the results from the PET scan so we know what stage the melanoma is currently at, once treatments start appointments are going to become a lot more regular then they already are now so the financial strain is only going to become a lot harder for our family we desperately need your help to reach our goal in donations so that we haven’t got to worry about the financial pressure of medical appointments hundreds of miles from our home and anything Macey-Mai needs for her care on top of everything else we have going on with our precious little girls health. ~ Be able to make amazing memories together as a family (fun days together as a family making the most precious memories in between health care appointments). Over the last year We’ve managed to raise over £30,000 which has helped massively to ensure we could get to continuous health care appointments in London for surgeries, scans, tests and so much much more donations have also helped with the cost of trains/buses/taxis/tubes and hotel stays all while in London for hospital appointments as well as absolutely anything needed for Macey-Mai’s care. Since Macey-Mai’s melanoma diagnosis we have decided to try our absolute hardest to try and also fundraise for Macey-Mai to be able to enjoy amazing experiences while shes still well enough to. We would love more then ever to be able to make precious memories giving our little girl all the happiness she deserves with fun family days out making memories together as a family in between hospital appointments for treatments and checkups. Macey-Mai has been through so much already in just 12 short months she truly deserves all the happiness in the world. shes seen more drs and hospitals then she has regular people, we have no time frame on when things could possibly take the worst of turns for our sweet little girl and we truly just desperately want her to be able to have all the happiness she truly deserves mostly.
