On Thursday of April 26th, 2019, my dear friend Brittney Decker’s daughter Kehlani, a sweet seventeen day old baby girl, began to compulsively spit up, stopped eating, turned incredibly pale and was very difficult to wake up. This led her family to call 911. The paramedics took her by ambulance to Corona Regional Hospital, where the medical team hypothesized that she had a hole in her heart. Shortly thereafter, she was transferred to Children’s Hospital Orange County and they were able to confirm that there is not only a hole in her heart but also a coarctation (narrowing) of the aorta which blocks normal blood flow to her body.
On Saturday evening, April 28th, Kehlani was airlifted to Children’s Hospital LA. Kehlani is relatively stable, but certainly fighting for her life. As of now, the medical team is trying to allow her to rest and de-stress but will perform open heart surgery this week.
The Decker family is asking for continued support in positive thoughts and prayers. I am blown away by the family’s strength and gratitude throughout this difficult time.
This Go Fund Me’s donations will help the Corona based family to alleviate financial stress so they can support Kehlani as she spends at least several weeks hospitalized in LA. The funds will be used for meals for mama as she continues to pump milk for baby, gas for the family as they are going from Corona to LA on a daily basis, hotel rooms for family if the commute gets too tiring, and other living expenses so the family can be physically present with mama and baby.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” -Galatians 6:2
Thank you kindly for helping bless this sweet family through this surreal season of life.
