This means one of her valves struggles to keep blood flowing. She had surgery to repair her little heart valve and a stint was put in place and that was successful. This year, right before Christmas,
she was taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville for a swollen foot, nothing that looked too serious. However,
Kat was diagnosed with a cellulitis infection as well as endocarditis (a heart infection), on top of a irregular heartbeat.
At this time, she is receiving a PICC line straight to her heart to fight the infection.
We are waiting on MRI results to ensure the infection hasn't spread to the the brain, lungs or any other areas. Katherine's doctors are hopeful that the antibiotics and treatment will be successful. But the treatment will take up to six weeks. We are praying and hoping for healing and speedy recovery.
As you can imagine, this is heavy for a baby at this age and for both of her parents, who are also trying to care for their young son Timothy (4yo) during all of this. Stephanie and Martin are suffering from emotional plus financial stress as they cannot work while caring for their small toddlers.
I am hoping we can raise enough to keep them financially afloat for a couple of months. The majority of my niece Stephanie’s family is based in California and Kansas, and we are trying extremely hard to get someone out there to support her and her young family in Tennessee during this difficult time. If you feel it in your heart to help us out, we'd be so grateful and blessed by your compassion.
Thank you for your time and help.
May God bless and keep you all safe.
