Baby Kaius & The Munoz Family need our help
Donation protected
On December 18, 2023 Liana & Jesse Munoz welcomed their newest baby boy, Kaius Matthew. He was the perfect addition to their growing family of 7 beautiful children. Ten days later Baby Kaius had to be rushed to the hospital via ambulance in the middle of the night. He was experiencing a fever and effortful breathing which is very concerning for a newborn. At the hospital, Kaius’ biliruben levels were higher than normal and he became a bit jaundiced. After several invasive tests, he ended up having a Urinary Track Infection (UTI) which was followed by a routine ultrasound. After reviewing results, doctors diagnosed him with a rare disease called posterior urethral valve hydronephrosis. This happens in every 1 out of ~8000 male babies. The condition is a severe dilation of the kidneys which is caused by a blockage in the urethra on outflow of urine, which can have severe complications, including loss of kidneys and damage to other organs. Liana & Jesse were notified that Baby Kaius will need immediate surgery to perform life-saving measures. Unfortunately, Guam cannot provide the kind of care he needs and will need to be flown off-island for the emergency surgery. This is why we need your help. The family of nine will need assistance with medical costs, care, transportation, and accommodations for this medical emergency. Any donation will be tremendously appreciated. We thank you for all your love and prayers and for helping give Baby Kaius a fighting chance. ❤️
