Baby Kai's Journey

Hi, our names are Steve and Salina Hernandez, and on October 6th, we were blessed with our first grandson Kai!!! He is so adorable and the perfect family addition to our first granddaughter and his big sister Leilani. Kai had a great first day, but he had some unexpected complications on day two. Kai experienced an abnormality that required emergency surgery and a stay in the NICU. Kai is strong, though; he rapidly defeats all his milestones in the NICU, allowing him to come home and meet his big sister and the rest of us. Unfortunately, Kai’s condition has a lot of unknowns. It requires special medical supplies, visits from home care nurses and several more surgeries in the near future.

As parents to Peanut (Stephen) and Jasmine, it is hard to see your children suffer and hurt during this time. Many of you have asked what you can do, and we felt this would be one way to support them and give them the comfort of knowing all other things will be taken care of.

Monetary support is not our primary concern. If you would like to donate a gift card for a meal or provide something to the family, please feel free to reach out to us, and we will coordinate this. Most of all, we ask you to send all your well wishes to Baby Kai.
