My name is Latisha Motley. I gave birth to my son Joshua Izale Motley on September 21, 2020.
During my pregnancy, each doctor’s visit became more and more exciting as I was learning more about my son and seeing his personality through ultrasounds.
What I didn’t know, was that one of those visits would soon change everything. I was 22 weeks & excited for another visit, but this time the doctors were doing an ultrasound and noticed the left side of my son’s heart was not growing. They began to run tests and do X-rays and could not explain to me why this was happening. They did explain that my son is perfectly fine while in my womb, but once he is born he will have to undergo heart surgery. I was devastated.
My son had to be delivered at UVA hospital since the hospitals in Richmond, VA did not have the equipment and ability to perform my son’s surgery. Once he was born and they attempted the surgery, they noticed another issue with his heart that they hadn’t noticed before. They were forced to stop the surgery or it could’ve been fatal. My son has now been added to the waiting list for a heart transplant and must stay in the hospital until one is found & the surgery is successfully performed. As you all may know, heart surgery is extremely costly and without Medicaid and other assistance it can be a hassle. I am also not able to work right now not only because I just birthed a child, but because I must be there for my son to nurture him.
Any donations at all would be greatly appreciated & I thank everyone that has extended their kind words and support so far ♥️
