                                                                    My Story

My name is Baby Jordyn, I am 8 months old,  My parents found out about me last February and they were very happy. Everything was going well I was growing and thriving. At my 20 week visit the doctor noticed that something didn’t look quite right on the scan and she wanted a second opinion. She sent us to UMMC Fetal Maternity Center, on that day in June that’s when my parents were told the heartbreaking news. I have a heart defect called Tetralogy Of Fallot, which is a complex heart defect and Digeorge Syndrone. Let’s fast forward to October 15, 2018. My mom went to the doctor for what she thought was a routine visit when she was told” Ms Holloway we have to get him out, he’s not growing like he should” I wasn’t due for another week so she was terrified. There were so many babies born on that day so they couldn’t get to me. I made my entrance into the world on October 16, 2018 at 12:29p.m. weighing 5lbs 14 ounces. Everyone was happy and thankful, I saw my mom for 60 seconds and I was taken in the back to my team. My first stop was the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit(picu) which ended up being my new home for 3 weeks. I had tubes stuck everywhere, along with lots of iv lines. My heart was working so hard and I still couldn’t get enough oxygen, my stats dropped and I had to be Intubated. While in the picu I had 2 surgeries within my first week of life and that was scary. I was doing so good at that time and I thought I was moving to the step down unit 5c. Again I had a set back, because of my DiGeorge I have Hypocalcemia and needed countless infusions of calcium. My calcium level constantly dropped, so I couldn’t leave. After days of infusions the doctors figured out a way to keep my levels stable. So my day finally came when I could say goodbye and move to my next home 5c. I stayed there for an additional 2 weeks until I was strong enough to go home. Due to my condition I stay at home at lot, I mostly come out for doctors appointments and quick visits. I have to be weighed daily, my stats checked twice a day, I have to take 6 medications a day some twice a day, and I have a special formula. I have sometimes 3 doctor appointments a week. I’ve had countless ekg’s, echos, MRI, eeg, kidney ultrasound etc....I’ve rocked it all, I’m doing so good. I have my good days and I have my bad. Now the time has come for me take the next step and that’s repair my heart. I’m telling you my story because I need something from you. I need your prayers, I need all prayer warriors to say a prayer for me and my family. I don’t know what’s about to happen because I’m so young but my family does. They are scared but they know that I’m a fighter and I’m very resilient. Please pray that my surgery will be a success. Thank you for reading my story, love Jordyn Braxton I had surgery Thursday, June 27, 2019, the surgery went well, but the doctors were not able to do the full repair.  I have had some very hard days I am still here in PICU, I have suffered a STOKE since my open heart surgery on Thursday.  I have had to be put back on the ventilator …. WOW! I have had a few setbacks, but my family is here with me praying, praying, and praying.  They know that God will heal and take care of me because God has brought me safe and has been with me even before I was born.  My family LOVE me.  I have had some really hard days since I was born, but I am so thankful that my parents, my brothers and sisters, my entire family all our friends and especially you have prayed for me.  I know God hear all the prayers for me.  Please continue to pray for me and support my GO Fund Me account.  Follow my story and my progress on my parents facebook page --Jerryand Miesha Holloway-Braxton.  Thank You Again For Helping my Family as I continue to recover. Thank you for reading my story, love Jordyn Braxton.
