Title: Prayers & Support for Baby John ❤️
With heavy hearts and hopeful spirits we are asking for urgent prayers and support for Big John—my nephew’s sweet 5 month old baby boy. His parent’s, Madi and Jake, are living every parent’s worst nightmare, watching him fight for his life in the hospital after going into full cardiac arrest.
A couple of days ago, John became unusually lethargic. Trusting her instincts, Madi drove him three hours from their remote ranch to the nearest ER. While being examined, John suddenly stopped breathing. By God’s grace, the medical team was able to revive him and stabilize him just enough to life-flight him to the children’s hospital in Aurora, Colorado.
Since arriving, John has been fighting for his little life. He was placed on an ECMO life support machine to help his struggling heart. This morning, he underwent emergency surgery to relieve the pressure that was building up in his heart and causing dangerously irregular rhythms.
To know this baby boy and his family is to love them. Baby John has earned the nickname “big John” with his cute little belly, chubby little hands, and squishy cheeks! He is a solid little rock in a world that needs more light like his.
His mama and daddy, Madi and Jake, are the most genuine people you’ll ever meet—Jake works tirelessly on the ranch, taking just one day off a week to drive three hours into town to take his family to church.
This young family lives 7 hours from the hospital and have a three year old daughter… they are now facing a mountain of medical bills, travel costs, and time away from work and home. They are the kind of people who never ask for help—so we’re asking for them. Please share this, say a prayer for them, and donate if you are able.
If you’d prefer to give directly, Jake’s Venmo is @jake-stephens-84.
Thank you for lifting this sweet family up in love. Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity are deeply appreciated. We’re holding onto hope and believing for a full healing for John.
Update: John just came out of surgery. Doctors made an incision through the major artery in his leg to improve blood flow. This should help stabilize his blood pressure and hopefully restore a regular heart rhythm. Praise God, there were no complications during surgery. He is now being hooked back up to the machines so his care team can monitor how he responds in the hours to come.
