Baby Jetta's Journey

Hi,
Baby Jetta was born to Hope (Wagner) and Nick Czarnecki on 9/17/21 and was finally able to go home on 3/16/22 at the age of 6 months.
Her little body started shutting down on her 3rd day of life and she was transported from Porter Hospital to Christ Advocates Children Hospital Pediatric Cardiac Intenseive Care Unit in Oaklawn Illinois.

Baby Jetta was diagnosed with 5 heart defects, one including, hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Her aortic arch was not developed. She was also diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome, 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome-is a disorder caused when a small part of chromosome 22 is missing. This deletion results in the poor development of several body symptoms.

She has undergone phase 1 of the Norwood procedure in September of 2021 and she was due to undergo phase 2 sometime between 8 and 13 months of age, but Jetta had to be re-hospitalized several times throughout her tiny life due to fighting different illnesses. She even underwent an emergency heart surgery in December of 2022 to help get her through the battle of illnesses.

The family had no idea how long Jetta's stay would end up being as she faced so many obsticles. It was like a constant roller coaster; praying and praying some more and never losting faith

During the first 6 months of her life, remaining in Children's Advocate Hospital, Jetta's parents traveled every weekend to see and visit Jetta (minus a couple of weekends due to illness) usually staying at the Ronald McDonald House adjacent to the hospital. This was such blessing for them.

With the many trips they made back and forth all the while her daddy, Nick, was still trying to work as much as possible as he is the sole provide for their family of 5. Jetta has been blessed with such a supportive family, helping and doing all they can. Baby Jetta also has an older brother (5 years old) and an older sister (3 years old). Family, friends, and local community have been so supportive in many different ways; prayers, prayers, and more prayers!! Sending messages, offering help, providing monetary donations, hot meals, and/or filling up the gas tank. The outpouring of love and support has been so touching!

Although they cannot possibly repay everyone for the kindness and generosity they have shown, the family was in disbelief of the amount of support they received.

Now, Jetta is finally scheduled to undergo her second phase of the Norwood procedure on June 15th, 2023.

Jetta's heart surgeon believes this will NOT be her last heart repair. From his judgment and what he sees according to Jetta's tests, she will most likely need at least 2 more heart surgeries in her future. The family is still hoping and praying for a miracle that this will be her last heart surgery. There is a SLIM chance that once the surgeon opens her up, he will know if she will need any more surgeries.

The family would greatly appreciate any help anyone is able to give as they are still traveling back and forth. Prayers are always appreciated and needed.

God bless.
