Baby Jesse Battles a Brain Tumor

Donation protected

Hello Family & Friends,

I have created this fundraiser on behalf of my nephew, “Baby Jesse” and the rest of our family. We have recently been hit with some difficult news about My older brother Jesse and his wife Alexis’ youngest child. He is battling a brain tumor at the young age of 9. Our family is devastated that he is going through this and he will have a long road ahead. He is his Dad’s best friend, his Mama’s baby, and he has two big sisters who love their little brother. He has Grandparents, Tia’s, Tio’s, and cousins who love him and want to see him overcome this. The children in our family are all of our children, and there’s nothing we wouldn’t do for each other. This affects us all as a family unit that one of our babies will endure this.  He is a quick-witted jokester, a story teller, an adventurer, and he is loved by so many people.

He is currently being treated at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where he has received CT Scans, MRIs and much more testing plus more to come to determine the severity of his tumor. I have attached a photo of the brain images showing just how large it is.

We initially found out that there was a problem at his routine well child check. He had been having headaches recently; during his eye exam, it was revealed that he can hardly make out shapes out of one eye, he was taken to a specialist and his parents discovered that he is experiencing severe vision loss, he is nearly blind as well as color blind in one eye.

They also tested his hearing and discovered that he is also experiencing severe hearing loss in the opposite ear. The Doctors do not know if removing the tumor will lend him his vision back. It is possible, but we can’t be sure yet. We’ve been told that whatever is lost already may be permanent.

The large tumor is wrapped around his optic nerve. His parents will be meeting with the neurosurgeon next week to make a solid plan for surgery, treatment and post-operative life going forward. As of right now, the plan is for the neurosurgeon at Phoenix Children’s to remove as much of the tumor as he safely can, without further damaging the optic nerve, then baby Jesse will have a port installed to administer chemotherapy weekly for the next 12-18 months to shrink the remainder of the tumor.

His normal life will be changed by this time next week. His headaches are getting worse by the day as well as the vision loss as this brain tumor grows, so things are moving fast now that it’s been discovered.

His parents both work full time, and we are certain that they will need to take a substantial amount of time off to care for their son in the next year to two years. Which brings me to this GoFundMe, the insurance deductible is going to be around $5,000. His hearing aid that isn’t covered by insurance is at least $5,000, and with his parents taking time off from work they will need our financial support so they can focus on the more important things right now.

Our extended family is big, and I’m hoping that everyone will rally around us during this hard time with your prayers. Please share this on your social media so that we can alert the entire family, and come together to provide financial support for Baby Jesse’s family.
