Last week, at just 2 weeks old, our sweet baby Jacob Jonathan Oleksiak was helicoptered from NJ to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with what looked to be heart failure. He was put on life support and ECMO, with a heart so enlarged we didn't know if he was going to make it through the night to see Tuesday. His momma started imagining having to plan his funeral. In the week since that terrifying night, we have learned that Jacob has multiple holes in his heart and a defective mitral valve. He's receiving the best care he can possibly get, and he has so many people working around the clock here at CHOP to try and help him get better. He is fighting so hard and has so many people praying for him. We are grateful for everyone who has sent their love, support, and prayers during this inexplicably difficult time.
Unfortunately the best care in the country does come at a cost, and we set up this page as a place to collocate donations to help with the quickly-mounting medical bills, especially as Jacob is now facing heart surgery. We are blessed to have people who want to help, and cannot thank everyone enough for the love, prayers, and support - in all forms - that we continue to receive. God bless you and baby Jacob!
