Baby Ingrid

When our oldest daughter Kaylee and son-in-law Thomas told us they were pregnant with our first grandchild, Paul and I were over the moon excited! Five months into her pregnancy the baby, Baby Bean, was diagnosed with TOF, (Tetralogy of Fallot) which is an abnormality of the heart.

The prognosis for TOF can include a preliminary surgery within the first week after birth with a more evasive open- heart surgery at 4-6 months of age. She will also need numerous surgeries in the future due to TOF.

Ingrid Nora (AKA Iggy) was born September 19th weighing in at 7 lbs. 11 ounces. Iggy’s first procedure related to TOF occurred within her first week of life as expected. The preliminary surgery went well, but with some setbacks along the way. Iggy was put on a ventilator to help with her oxygen saturation and blood pressure levels, while the doctors adjusted her medication. Unfortunately, Iggy has had another setback and is currently on the ventilator and a heart bypass. The doctors are looking to perform her open-heart surgery sooner rather than the 4-6 months as expected.

She has a reputation as being very feisty in the PICU and has pulled out many of her wire hook-ups, to her nurses and parent’s dismay.

Contributions will help offset the cost associated with the NICU , PICU and the open heart surgery.

Paul and I want to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support of Baby Ingrid.

As grandparents we want to make sure that Iggy has the opportunity to grow stronger and healthier as she grows up and this can be made possible with the help and support of her family, friends and community.

Thank you!
