Baby Indigo's Early Adventure Fund

On December 1st, Neil and Nikisha headed to a scheduled sonogram to get a good look at Indie's little face, because at her 18 week appointment she was hiding. Turns out that was an incredibly lucky stroke of fate, because at that appointment they learned that Kisha's cervix was shortened and dilated. She was immediately taken to Crouse and admitted as a high-risk pregnancy, where they closely monitored Kish and Indie's vitals. After having contractions all day Monday, Kisha was started on steroids to help develop Indie's lungs, so if she decided to make an early appearance they would be strong enough to support her. Things were going well when suddenly Kisha's water broke Tuesday night, but the doctors still hoped they would be able to keep her there for another ten weeks. However, Indigo was laying on her side and kept pinching her umbilical cord, causing her heart rate to drop. Kisha had an emergency C-section and at 10:33 pm on December 7th, at only one pound six ounces and twelve and a half inches long, Indigo Maelynn Ruggles was introduced to the world. Born at only 24 weeks, Indie has a long road ahead of her. She'll be kept at the NICU at Crouse until around her original due date at the end of March. This of course means Indie's tribe has a long road ahead of them too, both emotionally and financially. While modern medicine is on Indie's side, it will mean countless trips to the hospital for Neil and Nikisha over the coming months. The goal is to try to help lift some of the financial burden so Indie's family can devote all their energy into helping her grow. It takes a village in the best of times, but especially under such extraordinary circumstances, any help would be greatly appreciated.
