On November 16, 2020 beautiful Husna was born to our dear friends, Fatima and Abdulkhaliq. As you can imagine, the joy of bringing their sixth child into the world was a wonderful welcome, and Husna's siblings were so excited to meet her.
Unfortunately, medical providers quickly learned that Husna has a dangerous condition called Pulmonary Valve Stenosis; meaning a valve in her heart is very small and tight. Approximately, one month later on December 17th doctors did a cardiac catheterization....but, it was not successful. After much deliberation, the decision was made to perform a tenuous surgery on February 9th with the goal being to replace the valve in her heart. As if this wasn't enough to handle...a few days after setting this date, Husna and Abdulkhaliq tested positive for COVID-19 and went into quarantine. I am happy to report that both are doing ok right now in terms of COVID, but the surgery had to be postponed until February 16. While Husna is exhibiting a tremendously beautiful fighting spirit inherited from her family, she is also working very hard to survive.
Friends, it breaks my heart to write this...and, I am sure it hurts yours to read it. As we all know, Abdulkhaliq, Fatima and their family are tremendous people who spend their days loving their family, helping their communities near and far and being such good friends to all of us. They have also already been through enough. That this is happening now, feels like too much. While they are indeed persevering, if we come together in community to provide some loving support, we can ease their financial burden, allow them to gather their strength and focus on Husna healing.
