Baby Houston Needs your Help
Hi Friends,
I am coming to all of you for help. I thought twice about doing this, but my baby is worth asking. Houston is 6 years old and is the absolute sweetest, kindest, most gentle soul. He grew up up with some pretty aggressive brothers. However, Houston is the bestest boy ever and always hangs back and waits his turn, such a gentleman. He waits his turn whether for a snack or a few kisses. All he wants is my attention and a belly rub. Im always available for those.
A few months ago whole brushing Houstons teeth that on his gum on his top left jaw he had what I thought was an abcess. I took him immediately to get a dental exam. His vet then did a cleaning but never mentioned the access. They told me it was just extra gum from gingivitis. Foolishly I accepted that and we left. It didn't go away so a few days later we went to another vet her in New Orleans. They do a cleaning and they too say they agreed. Again, we go home and at this point I know something is not right. As fur baby parents, we know our children. I made an appointment with another Vet in Metairie and she looked at and immediately wanted to biopsy. So, we did...$1000
Once the results were back she let me know that Houston had an extremely rare Maxillary Amyloid producing tumor. (tumor in upper jaw). It has grown and will keep growing and is painful.
She immediately refers me to another vet to perform a CT scan. We do, $2000. Once the results were back vet says she doesn't want to do surgery. Im sitting in the vets office in a daze at this point. Finally while she's explaining I just start crying and space out.
Houston is not ready to give up, I know he's not. I'll know when it's time to take his pain and make it mine. We are not there yet.
I do not have all the faith in this vet and although I am so thankful that they helped bring this to light, I would like Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston to give me a second opinion. I have called and GCVS will not use my vets CT scan. I'll need another CT scan another $2000. They I will have to pay for the surgery if one of their many specialists feels he can operate. I will sell a few appliances I have in storage or figure that out later.
Saks Fifth Avenue let me go a week all of this. I was not prepared at all for this or expecting from one of my youngest babies. I am in a very unique situation and have to swallow my pride and ask you to please help him.
Whatever you can help with will be absolutely genuinely appreciated and will help baby Houston. Whenever I am right side up I will pay this back. I would make a video but I can't stop crying, so if there are typos, it's because I can't see.
I have attached photos of Biopsy report.
Please please share with everyone you know, and thank you. Houston deserves this chance.
Thank you,
Victor
