Hello, everyone! My name is Abby, and I am the sister of Andrew Hora. Andrew, and his wife, Alyssa, are expecting their first baby in just a couple of short weeks! However, they received news early on in her pregnancy that their sweet baby has a condition called HLHS, short for hypoplastic left heart syndrome. This syndrome is considered a severe heart defect that affects normal blood flow through the baby’s heart. Parts of the heart are either underdeveloped or not formed, leaving the baby without proper blood flow & oxygen to the rest of the body.

Because of this critical condition, Andrew & Alyssa are in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Alyssa & Baby can receive care from some of the nation’s best neonatal heart surgeons & other providers who are familiar with HLHS. It is expected that as soon as their baby is born, he/she will undergo open heart surgery shortly after birth, followed by 2-3 more surgeries over the span of 2-3 years.

Andrew & Alyssa sincerely thank you for all your time, energy, prayers, and donations you’ve already invested in their new family. They are truly overwhelmed by your amazing support! As you can probably guess, multiple critical heart surgeries, a lengthy hospital stay, travel, & lodging can create quite a financial burden for Andrew & Alyssa.
