After a tough battle against heart & organ complications, we said farewell to our sweet baby boy Hayden on the afternoon of June 4th, 2021. He suffered from cardiomyopathy; his enlarged heart was unable to efficiently provide for the rest of his body. Hayden was such a sweet baby and a fighter. He fought for four long months through his journey. He was loved so much, even before entering this world, and will continue to be loved for the rest of our lives.

Hayden was a hydrops baby and his birth was considered high risk, so even in the womb, there were complications due to an odd & rare genetic mutation. Medical experts weren’t sure he would make birth, but against the odds, we were blessed with him on January 26, 2021.
Born two months premature and with edema, he entered this world with a hopeful cry, the ONLY cry & sound we would ever hear from him, and was immediately handed off to NICU staff. For the first months of his life, he was heavily medicated and was limited to very few physical interactions. Imagine being a parent, especially a mother, and not being able to comfort & hold your baby when they were in pain, it was truly heartbreaking.
Hayden was born inside the walls of the children’s hospital at UCSF, where he spent his entire life and was cared for by some of the best medical professionals in the nation. He captured the hearts of many with his personality, fighting spirit and beautiful eyes. Some nurses were so taken by him that they signed up to be his primary caregivers and we truly appreciate all they did for him by giving him the best chances at life.
Hayden is baby #6 because his mom loves even numbers. His family is from Fresno, CA, where his mom and I would travel from and to San Francisco every week. The drive was never a hassle since we always knew he was the goal. Our Hayden was such a good baby. He was so handsome, had charm, personality and the biggest, most captivating eyes. He loved chest & butt pats and staring at his nursery mobile.
Being intubated most of his life, we never got to experience or hear his baby babble or his cries. We would often wonder what he would sound like when hearing other babies cry in his unit.
We love our baby and even though I don’t believe any parent should ever have to bury their children, these are our current circumstances. We are asking for your help to lay him to rest in the best possible way. Even though his timing was cut short, he holds a huge piece of our hearts and will always be remembered. Until the day we meet again, may our sweet Hayden rest in peace.
We THANK YOU in advance.
