Baby Hannah's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
I am reaching out to the country- and beyond borders- on behalf of my 10- month old neice- Hannah Richards. She is the grandaughter of Shane and Krista Gallant; the grandaughter of Eleanor Gallant and the late Calder Campbell; the neice of Stefanie Gallant and Dave Rumsey; the neice of Justin and Jarod Campell; the neice of Breckon Richards; the daughter or Aaron and Jan Richards. She is my neice, and my name is Naomi Hartery. I am a teacher and vice-principal in Brooks, AB, for Christ the Redeemer School Division.
My neice , Hannah Richards, is 10 months old. She is a beautiful girl who loves life- laughing, cuddling, playing. Her smile melts your heart. About one month ago, she became very sick. Leukemia was ruled out twice, but doctors still did not know what was wrong. After a bone marrow test, Leukemia was confirmed. She is fighting for her life. She will need to undergo 6 to 9 months of treatment and two and a half years of follow- up treatment. She is my sister and brother-in law's first baby and she is a light in this world. They are devastated and very stressed.
My sister and her husband, Jan and Aaron, live and work in PEI. However, cancer treatments needed for baby Hannah are only available in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Doctors have said both Jan and Aaron need to be at the IWK, the children's hospital, full time for 6 to 9 months. They love thier child, so they are both commiting to that to save their babies life. Like most of us, they have a mortgage and bills. Not only that, to go to their house to get anything is a five- hour drive one way. As we would all do, they have committed to being with their daughter to fight for her life and comfort her in the pain from treatment and sickness.
The money you donate will be used to help Jan and Aaron stay to care for their baby. A 10- month old baby can not be in the hosptial alone. She needs her mom and dad. Their love, care, and attention will be as necessary as the medical attention.
Sometimes in this journey, I have been angry with God. Also, I have been angry with the Canadian Health care system for not having cancer treatment equally available to access for all Candians. Today, I need to do something to help my sister, brother- in- law and most importantly, neice. This will help them through this painful situation, and remind us of the Candian spirit and God's work in all of this.
Please donate as soon as you can. We will be forever thankful to you. Your comments on the page will mean as much as your donation. In addition, please pray and activate any prayer chain you are aware of.
