My heart is breaking as I write this. My youngest sister, Tiffany, just welcomed her son, Baby Grayson—moments that should have been filled with joy quickly turned into one of the most difficult experiences.

Grayson was born with a rare condition called gastroschisis, where his tiny intestines developed outside of his stomach. He needed emergency surgery right after birth, and now he’s in the NICU, hooked up to tubes and monitors, fighting so hard to heal.

Tiffany has asked for more prayers as Grayson is going through another setback right now. His stomach is swelling, and the doctors have decided to stop his feeds—we were so excited for him to finally be able to eat, but now there’s a possible infection or another complication that requires more testing.

Tiffany only goes home for short periods to shower and take quick naps because the hospital does not allow parents to sleep anywhere—not even in the waiting room. During those brief moments away, she’s watching him on the hospital’s baby monitor. It’s a half-hour drive from the hospital to her house, and she has to go home to get any rest at all (which she definitely needs as she’s still healing from her emergency C-section). When she and Chris make those trips home, they also squeeze in laundry, showers, and picking out new clothes for Grayson since his little nook in the NICU is too small to store personal items.

Instead of celebrating his first weeks of life, they’ve been living hour by hour—praying through every sleepless night and facing so many unknowns. Tiffany and Chris are doing everything they can, 24/7. It has been terrifying and overwhelming, but we are holding on to hope and faith.

Grayson’s daddy, Chris, is working hard to keep things going at home while also rushing back and forth to the hospital to be with his baby boy. It’s a heavy load, and this family needs all the love and support they can get right now.
