As many people on Go Fund Me say, I never thought I would be creating a fundraiser for myself or anyone I know, but as we all know, life certainly has its ups and downs. It has been a bit of a crazy and challenging year for our family, but Ken and I were recently blessed with a beautiful grandson, Gentry, who was born on August 21st.

Unfortunately this newest and precious addition to the family was born with a serious congenital heart defect, Pulmonary Atresia. He came into the world at a healthy 8 lbs. 4 oz., however, as healthy and perfect as he looks on the outside, his medical team and parents (Ashton and Cheri) knew there would be a long medical journey ahead.

As of right now, Gentry is in a Cardiac ICU being well cared for by an amazing staff of medical personnel. Cheri and Ashton are able to be with him around the clock which is of course so important to parents with a child in the hospital for any medical condition. Gentry will be having a cardiac catheterization on Friday, followed by an open-heart intervention surgery in 2-3 weeks, and another open-heart surgery at 6-8 months. He is struggling to keep his oxygen levels stable, so the hope is that the surgery in a few weeks will help him breathe a little easier and help that oxygen flow throughout his little body. Overall, it is very likely that Gentry will be spending several months of his first year of life in an ICU.

With all of this going on, this young family is of course in need of support in order to be by Gentry's side for all the pokes, proddings and surgeries. He will also need additional baby items to help support his medical needs/ devices during his periods at home over the next year.
