Baby Genesis’s Medical Expenses

Hi, I am Ashley, Jamies friend. Jamie welcomed her baby girl, Genesis Marie Karteus on December 26th, 2022 at 6:30am.

Genesis experienced a traumatic labor and delivery and was born unresponsive, needing oxygen and intensive care. While at St. Luke’s NICU, Genesis went through several tests and received exceptional care. On the afternoon of the 26th, Genesis experienced an episode of seizures, which prompted the NICU doctors to make the quick decision to transfer her to the U of I for a higher level of care. A decision was made to transfer Jamie to the U of I to be with Genesis. Genesis has an amazing care team monitoring her 24 hours a day, she continues to have seizures and will likely require some therapy’s during and after her stay. So much is unknown right now, but the one thing we do know is Genesis is responding to her mommas presence so we need to make it possible for Jamie to be there with her.

We don’t know what the continued care will look like at this time, or what will happen in these first few days of her life. We do know she’s in the best care possible and loved dearly by her family. We ask that you will please keep her in your prayers. If you are able to help Jamie and baby Genesis financially during this time it would mean the world to them and help alleviate some of the financial stress.

Any funds would be used for any medical expenses not covered by insurance, travel, food, hotel and bills Jamie has while she’s off work to be with baby Genesis. We know that Genesis is facing several weeks or more of care at the University of Iowa children’s hospital.
