Baby Everly's Heart Surgery Fund

Donation protected

Brian and Ali Cooks' (Wenckowski) new baby girl Everly Ashley has finally arrived and needs our help! She was born on October 17 at 6:53p.m. weighing 5lbs 11oz. Unfortunatly she was born with  transpositioning of the main arteries of her heart. This basically means her aorta and pulmonary arteries are switched and she can not oxygenate her own blood. She is currently in ICU at Rush Hospital after having a balloon placed in her heart earlier today to help her blood mixing reach its maxium. Today,  at only 3 days old, Everly will undergo corrective open-heart surgery. She needs all of the love, prayers, and positive thoughts we can possibly send. Beyond the heartache of watching your newborn undergo open heart surgery, and the days and weeks ahead they will have to spend at the hospital, Brian and Ali also have 2 other beautiful  daughters and a house nearly an hour away from Rush Hospital. As it stands, Ali has no paid maternity leave and will have to go back to work in two weeks while Everly is still in the hospital. Once Everly is discharged, then Ali will need to take an additional six weeks unpaid for the  recovery time and to  finally be  home with her new daughter.  Anyone who knows Brian, Ali, Lexie or Layla, knows how lucky Everly is to be the newest member of their family. And anyone who knows Ali, knows what this girl has accomplished in her life, despite being delt not the best hand.  Ali came into my life 10 years ago as the best employee a little coffee shop could have. She became not only like family to me, but to many others in downtown Wilmington. She worked her tail off at the coffee shop as well as the Rustic Inn.  Single handedly she put herself through college at Lewis University. She's never made excuses, she's never asked for help.  It's time for everyone who knows Ali and her beautiful family to finally give her the break she has  deserved for so long and help cushion this huge blow. Please everyone help anyway you can. Even $5 or $10 is a quick bite to eat in a hospital cafteria.  AND PLEASE SHARE, SHARE, SHARE THIS!!!!
