Baby Everett Hegg
Donation protected
Hello, I am putting this Go Fund me together to help ease the medical fianacial burden for Joe and Sarah Hegg as they take care of their new baby boy Everett. As most of you know, Joe and Sarah both would take the shirt off their backs to give to someone in need, always a helping hand, they go above and beyond for all of their friends and family. This is the least I can do for such a loving, giving and truly amazing family.
Joe and Sarah have had quite the journey in this pregnancy and took many bounds and leaps to get pregnant. Even when odds seemed against them, they continued on their journey and didnt lose hope.
On May 11th, Sarah's water broke at midnight, they headed to Hannibal Regional to be met with 22 hours of labor. Sarah gave birth to Everett on the 11th at 10:40pm after only two doses of Nubane and no epidural. Everett weighed 7.5lbs and 20" at 4 weeks early. Even though Everett looked perfect, things were not. His oxygen wasnt good, his breathing was labored. At 3:00am they found a hole in the roof of his mouth, they call this a submucous cleft palate. The hospital ended up rushing him to Cardnial Glennon Childrens hostpital in STL. Keep in mind, both parents have still not held their baby. They had found in addition to the above that he had a pulmonary hemorrhage and was bleeding in his lungs. Since being in STL, he has been intubated and on a ventilator, had an arterial umbilical line put in for labs and blood draws, he has a feeding tube, and they discovered holes in his heart, underdeveloped penis, holes in the middle of his heart, the pulmonary hemorrhage (it has caused the equivalent of chemical burns inside his lungs) and the hole in the middle of the roof of his mouth. They call these midline defects and they are now concerned with the middle of his brain and particularly the pituitary gland and any corresponding defects there.
The Hegg family has spent everyday in the hosptial since the 11th and it looks like a few more weeks for testing, scans, etc. Spending over a week in NICU with maybe another week ahead, then the return trips to for cardiology and endocrinology. Please continue to pray, send them your thoughts and good vibes. Joe is also currently in between jobs and anything donated helps!
