help baby Eva & family escape the war in Ukraine
Donation protected
Five months after Russia's initial invasion of Ukraine, baby Eva was born. She has lived her whole little life in a war zone. Please help bring her to safety in the US, where she can live in peace until the war is over.
We are sponsoring baby Eva, her mom Victoria, and her grandma Nina through the Uniting4Ukraine program. We will provide housing. We are asking for assistance to help cover their other initial living expenses, until the adults can get work authorization and find jobs. Depending on their jobs they may need a car, so we are also hoping for donations toward that large expense.
Additionally, assistance is needed to cover the cost of the plane tickets. Victoria has not been able to work since the war started, and like many families they have depleted their savings. They only have enough left to cover part of the airfare. They were able to leave Ukraine by train today, and hope to fly from Poland to the US on March 1, so time is of the essence.
Here's a breakdown of some of the immediate needs:
$600 will cover the airfare costs they cannot pay
$214 will cover one night in a hotel near JFK so they can rest between the long flights and adjust to the time difference, and don't have to sleep on the floor of the airport
$200 will buy a car seat for baby Eva (she's never had one) (we are looking for a used one in a thrift store, but may need to buy new)
$68 will pay for a month's worth of diapers
Then there will be funds needed for groceries, incidentals, transportation, etc. until they have gainful employment.
Please help as you feel called. Every donation helps, large or small!
Rest assured that 100% of the funds raised will be used to help the family travel to the US and to support their start-up and living expenses during their transition to independence in the US.
If we raise excess funds, they will be safely held for the next newcomer sponsorship. In the event that we do not sponsor another family fleeing to safety, the unused funds will be donated to the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, a 501(c)(3) non-profit at refugees.org/donate-ukrainian-assistance.
Dyakuyu! (Many thanks!)
Please share this widely with family and friends.
