Baby Ethan's Medical Fund
Donation protected
Caroline and Josh Montanez brought Ethan into the world on March 20, 2021. Unfortunately, he has had a very rough start since birth. After his first day, Ethan was urgently flown to Arkansas Children's in Little Rock due to recurrent seizures and low blood sugars. After several days of seizures, he was able to get scans and it was discovered he had a level four brain bleed. The team at the hospital was able to stabilize his blood sugars, control seizures and eventually wean him off oxygen and seizure medications. He was progressing and his feedings were improving.
Within the last couple of days and after another scan, Ethan was showing increased pressure in his brain from hydrocephalus. His brain is unable to drain fluid properly which is causing his head to swell and putting pressure on his brain. Ethan will be getting a shunt placed surgically in the near future which should help with the swelling. This is a big surgery for such a little guy.
Baby Ethan has spent his first month in the NICU in Little Rock. There are still a lot of unknowns and questions from the wide range of tests that Ethan has gone through. It's going to be a long road for him to heal. He is going to need constant medical attention for the near term and likely into the future. Caroline and Josh have been by his side away from home and are living down there until they are able to bring him back to Northwest Arkansas.
People have been asking for ways to help and I thought this would be a way for us to show support for Caroline, Josh and Ethan. They have been through so much in their first month as parents and we all sympathize with how hard this has been on their family.
All money raised will go directly to Caroline and Josh for Ethan's current and future medical bills as well as their living arrangements while in Little Rock.
If you don't feel comfortable donating online, please reach out to me directly.
Thanks for all the support and prayers for Ethan!
