Baby Emily’s family

Please help me raise as much money as we can for Emily’s family. She is so desperately ill and her mum and dad have experienced probably the worst thing that can ever happen to a parent.

Emily - 3years old, was admitted to warwick hospital on Mon 16th September. Emily had a fever and a bad cough. She progressively got worse over the next 2 days on Wednesday the 18th September doctors decided to intubate Emily as she wasn't getting enough oxygen on her own, during the intubation process Emily went into cardiac arrest, she quickly stablised, she was then transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital, there she had an x-ray which showed she had fluid on her lungs from pneumonia, she had to have a drain in her chest to try and remove all the fluid, 2 litres of fluid drained in the first 24 hours, they kept doing x-rays and noticed she now had air in her chest where it wasn't supposed to be, this had collapsed both lungs and displaced her heart, every day after that she had a new drain put in , Emily ended up having 4 drains in her chest all at once. On the 24th September they were told that the hospital they were in could not do anymore for her and she would need to be transferred to Birmingham children's hospital as she would need surgery.

At Birmingham children's hospital Emily was critical but stable, the drains she had were not working properly so they had to make them bigger. On the 27th September Emily went in for her surgery, where they removed as much dead lung tissue as they could so that she could start her healing process, the surgery was 4 hours long, the surgeons are happy with how it went and are hopeful, the family are expecting to stay in hospital for the next 6 weeks so their baby can be cared for until she is stable enough to go home.

Unfortunately Emily’s dad (Phil) lost his job 2 days before she got sick. Both parents are South African and are waiting for their indefinite leave to remain certifications to be confirmed which they had to pay £12,000 for, so unfortunately they are not entitled to any financial assistance through benefits and with both of them not working
This family are under extreme amounts of stress and money should be the least of their worries at a time like this, they only have one car and the clutch broke a few days ago and they now have no transport. Please donate what ever you can this poor family just need a break.
