Hey everyone, Brady and I feel it's time to share some of what has been going on in our lives. About 2 months ago our youngest Ellison was diagnosed with craniosynostosis. This is a relatively rare condition where there is premature fusion of the skull bones which can eventually lead to impaired brain growth if not caught/ repaired. Thankfully our pediatrician raised concerns early and pushed for imaging tests and to consult with Riley children's hospital's craniofacial specialty team. With having done that, our baby will be having a pretty extensive 6 hour surgery November 20th called cranial vault reconstruction.
We are so lucky to have Ellison under amazing care with Dr.
Sagoe where this was caught early and he has not experienced an developmental delavs- the little man is crushing milestones and "talking" up a storm. The neurosurgeon was very positive when discussing prognosis!!
We are looking at a decent stay in the hospital that will span over Thanksgiving and I want to try to keep the holidays special for Leo also. If anyone has experience or advice with hospital stays and siblings/ toddlers please message me. We are so lucky to have amazing family support to help entertain Leo, and bring comfort to an uncomfortable and scary situation. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as navigate through this time. We also will be needing to ensure Ellison is healthy leading up to his surgery date so come November we will be staying home and limiting exposure to illness that passes around during this time. We appreciate everyone's support we've received from the few we have shared with already and are staying strong and ready to face this head on!
