Baby Ellie's Cancer Treatment Fund

Hi, my name is Kayla and I'm starting this fundraiser as many have asked how they can help support my sister, Kristin, and her husband, Chris, as they face every parent's worst nightmare. At just 7-weeks old, Eleanor, or "Ellie," for short, their newborn baby girl and my darling little bitty niece, has been diagnosed with cancer after a rare type of malignant tumor called a neuroblastoma was discovered in her pelvis.

Ellie underwent surgery to biopsy the tumor and is recovering well. We are anxiously awaiting lab results to find out more specifics on the type of cancer she has and how aggressive it is so her doctors can decide the best course of treatment. The tentative plan, based on what we know so far, is to start chemotherapy right away to try and shrink the tumor.

Ellie is Kristin and Chris' first and only child. They were the most adorable expecting parents, just over the moon with excitement awaiting her arrival. She was born on July 1st (two days before my birthday!) without complications and by all accounts perfectly healthy. We were completely blindsided... I honestly don't have the words to describe how devastating and heartbreaking this is for our family. I think we are all still in shock and hoping we will awake tomorrow to find it was all some strange and terrible mistake.

Though we don't yet know the specifics on where we will go from here, we are anticipating a very long and expensive journey. All funds raised here will go directly to Kristin and Chris to help reduce the financial burden associated with Ellie's treatment, things like medical bills and lost wages.
