Baby Eliora Needs Urgent Open-Heart Surgery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Chundung Bot, and I am raising funds for my daughter, Baby Eliora Dajang, who is 16 months old.

Eliora was born with multiple serious congenital heart defects. She has a large ventricular septal defect (VSD), a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), an atrial septal defect (ASD), and pulmonary hypertension. In simple terms, she was born with several holes in her heart. Because of these holes, blood that should be pumped cleanly around her body does not go where it should. Instead, it just backs and pools fluids under high pressure within her heart, unable to clear properly.

That excess blood is also redirected into her lungs under the same high pressure. Her lungs, which should be light and filled with air, become congested with that pressure and fluid. This makes it difficult for her to breathe and prevents oxygen from moving properly into her bloodstream. Her heart is working harder than it should, constantly trying to clear what it cannot clear. It is like trying to sweep floodwater with a net. And the effort never stops, all this work, with not enough oxygen to support it.

Because her lungs cannot exchange oxygen efficiently, Eliora’s body is always working with too little oxygen. She becomes extremely tired, struggles to feed, and cannot sustain energy the way a healthy baby should. The persistent fluid in her lungs also creates a high risk of infections, meaning even common illnesses can quickly become serious.

Baby Eliora Needs Urgent Open Heart Surgery. Without urgent open-heart surgery, this cycle will continue and worsen. Each day her heart works harder, her lungs carry more pressure, and the strain on her body increases. Eliora cannot afford to wait because waiting is not neutral for her, it carries real and growing risk each second.

After many consultations and long waiting periods, we have finally been accepted by MIOT Hospitals in Chennai, India, a specialist centre with experience in complex paediatric heart surgery. The hospital has confirmed that Eliora is a candidate for surgery and has issued a formal medical acceptance.

The core medical cost for her evaluation, surgery, intensive care, hospital stay, and essential post-operative treatment is USD $11,000, which is approximately £9,000. As required by the hospital, this amount must be paid in full before treatment can begin. As this fundraiser is based in the UK, it is denominated in pounds sterling.

In addition to the medical costs, we must also cover essential logistics, including international travel for Eliora and her accompanying parent, medical visa fees, local transportation, accommodation during her hospital stay, and related expenses, as well as a small contingency should Eliora require a longer hospital stay due to the complexity of her condition.

We have explored charities focused on paediatric cardiac surgeries and other options, and while we are deeply grateful for the work they do, we were either placed on long waiting lists or declined due to the multiple defects involved in Eliora’s case. We continue to explore all possible avenues of support alongside this fundraiser. As things stand, this fundraiser is our most immediate and urgent option to get Eliora the life-saving care she needs.

Every donation, no matter how small, helps break this cycle and brings Eliora closer to the surgery she needs to survive. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page, that alone could help reach someone who can.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us during the most difficult time of our lives.

With gratitude,
Chundung Bot, Eliora's Mother.

About The Organiser, Transparency & Use of Funds

This fundraiser is organised by Dr. Henry Eze, a medical doctor trained at the University of Jos, Nigeria, and currently practising in the United Kingdom. My identity and professional credentials are verifiable and available upon request.

Relationship to the Beneficiary

The beneficiary is Baby Dajang Eliora.
Her mother, Dr. Chundung Bot, is a medical doctor and a personal acquaintance of mine from the University of Jos. I am not a relative of the child.

I am acting as organiser with her full written and video consent, to reduce her cognitive and emotional burden while she cares for a critically ill child.

Why I Am the Organiser

I am coordinating this fundraiser purely to handle organisation, documentation, and communication.
I am not receiving any payment, commission, or benefit from this fundraiser.

Additionally, GoFundMe does not currently support payouts to Nigeria-based bank accounts. As a result, I am using a dedicated UK bank account to receive the funds. These will then be transferred in their entirety to Dr. Chundung Bot’s account via a supported Transfer Method, e.g., LemFi/Taptap Send depending on whichever service has the best rates, and the funds will be used solely for Eliora’s medical care.
I will not retain any funds, and no money raised comes to me.

All transfers will be documented, and transaction receipts will be shared publicly for full transparency.

Use of Funds & Verification

Funds are intended solely for Eliora’s medical evaluation, open-heart surgery, and related hospital care, based on a formal, independently verifiable cost estimate from MIOT Hospitals, Chennai, India.

Supporting documents, including medical reports, hospital estimates, the mother’s consent, and the child’s birth certificate — are available where platform rules permit. Additional verification can be provided on request.

Local (Naira-Based) Donations

Work is ongoing to set up a Naira-native donation option to reduce barriers for local donors in Nigeria. Updates will be shared once available.

Thank you for reading, verifying, and supporting in any way you can.
