Baby David’s miraculous recovery

On Tuesday, May 17th baby David was taken to the ER with lethargy and a rash. He was then rushed to the local pediatric hospital OU Childrens.

David was treated with life saving measures and diagnosed with viral meningitis from a rare virus called Human Parechovirus. This was confirmed by testing his Cerebrospinal Fluid. He spent 8 days in the PICU (pediatric ICU) and is presently still recovering on a step-down unit.

At just barely 1 month of age he has fought for his life with the help of an amazing team of doctors and nurses and his parents by his side.

Our goal is to raise $6000 to cover the cost of baby David's insurance deductible.

No one is prepared for such a sudden and serious illness, especially in an infant. Unfortunately baby David's parents were not prepared for the medical bill either. All monies will go directly to babies insurance deductible. Your support is very much appreciated. Thank you all so much.

Human parechoviruses (HPeV) were first identified in 1956 and were previously known as echoviruses 22 and 23. Parechovirus is a rare species of Enterovirus which is spread from person to person. Babies and young children can become very unwell, very quickly.

Human Parechovirus can cause sepsis, a severe blood infection, meningitis and/or encephalitis, a severe infection of the membrane surrounding the brain. These are most common in babies younger than 3 months.
