Hello, My name is Yesenia and I am fundraising for my great nephew, David Ramos III. He was expected to be born at 37 weeks via cesarean section due to having Gastroschisis. Gastroschisis is a birth defect where a hole in the abdominal (belly) wall beside the belly button allows the baby's intestines to extend outside of the baby's body. He was born with both his large and small intestines outside his body.
Unfortunately he was born at 35 weeks via emergency cesarean section at Kaiser Santa Rosa, when he was expected to have more specialized care at Kaiser Oakland. He was stabilized and transferred to Oakland Kaiser several hours after being born. He is currently intubated, he is getting nutrition through a central IV line and he is highly sedated. His intestines are slowly being advanced into his abdominal cavity via gravity. We are all taking baby David's progress day by day and praying for him to gain a little more strength each day.
Mom, Angelica, was also transferred to Oakland Kaiser the next day to be closer to Baby David. Both David (dad) and Angelica share 3 children, Antoinette, Maliah and Julie, for which they must still care for and be present for. They are communiting from Santa Rosa to Oakland, about a 70 mile trip each way, daily and really need help with gas money.
