Daniel was born prematurely at 34 weeks on November 21st. He spent 85 days in the NICU before being discharged to come home. He’s had many struggles, like learning to eat and breathing without oxygen support.
Daniel has an atrial septal defect in his heart, laryngomalacia (a floppy airway), difficulties eating by mouth, and obstructive sleep apnea. He received a supraglottoplasty back in January to open up his airway.
Recently, Daniel was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, which is a buildup of spinal fluid within the brain that can cause pressure, pain, and developmental delays. Daniel had another surgery, called an ETV (endoscopic third ventriculostomy) to help his brain drain the spinal fluid and relieve the pressure in his skull in late June. Unfortunately, the procedure failed to help him maintain the spinal fluid in his brain, and he required a shunt to be placed in early July.
Daniel has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but he is resilient. This experience has been very heavy on myself and my husband, Keegan. Any donation is greatly appreciated to help cover medical bills and others medical expenses. Thank you!
