Any help is appreciated. Our 1 year old son, Bryson, had a serious brain surgery to remove a tumor deep in the Hippocampus of the brain on March 6, 2020. This tumor has been causing him to have seizures that resulted in emergency hospitalization in September of 2019. The medical bills have been piling up since 2019 from frequent MRI’s up until the point of his inevitable surgery. Now that he’s had his surgery, the medical bills became quite substantial during our stay. After the recovery process is over, Bryson will still need continuous monitoring by specialists, reoccurring checkups, medication, follow up testing of all sorts including: MRI’s, EEGs, and more and more to come throughout this year and potentially years to come.
Some of our family and friends have suggested we try GoFundMe, to help pay his medical bills since we had to take time off from work for Bryson’s surgery and his recovery.
Ive never been one to ask for handouts, I’ve always been very independent in life, but now I am wholeheartedly admitting that we need help.
ALL contributions are highly appreciated and will assist our financial debt (time off from work, medical bills, medication) during this awfully, devastating time.
No donation at all is too small, if you’re unable to donate, please share so others can hear Bryson Welch’s story.
Background:
Our story is a mother and fathers worst nightmare. On September 6, 2019, our 10 month old son, began experiencing frequent “shakes” and nausea. We immediately took him to the doctors, where they misdiagnosed Bryson with a case of the “stomach bug.” When in actuality, he’d been having seizures the whole time. On September 13, right before his usual bedtime, Bryson had a Grand Mal Seizure before collapsing in his fathers arms. We rushed him to the ER in Prescott Valley, Arizona, the seizure lasted for what seemed like hours, even with the medicine they had given him. It was nonstop. Upon his arrival, they gave him a CT scan, in which presented a “smokey cloud in his brain.” It was then that the doctors told us it was a lesion. That our son internally bleeding in his brain. Bryson was then emergency flown to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where we then discovered that he has a tumor growing inside his brain. For months now, Bryson, has been taking Keppra to control his seizures, while a team of doctors figured out an emergency surgery before the tumor grew any bigger. Since then, Bryson has had frequent MRI’s, spinal tap, and various testing at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Brysons surgeon, neurologists, and the tumor board agreed to order Bryson to have emergency brain surgery to have the tumor removed before it drastically interrupted the hippocampus part of the brain, the part that controls thoughts, processing, and emotions. On March 6th, Brysons surgeon removed all of the abnormal tissue except for the tissue attached to artery. We are still waiting to hear back from pathology on the removed tissue for further information on whether or not it is cancerous. Bryson will have a long road of scans, medications, follow ups, and specialists for the next few years. There could be more brain surgeries, but our hope is that this is the last. Bryson spent time in the ICU, before moving to other floors in the hospital.
Again any help is good help.
Please keep Bryson in your prayers.
