The past few days, we have been so inundated with prayers and well-wishing that I think it’s only fair to post an update on our baby boy, Brooks. He contracted a bacterial strain of strep shortly after delivery in Idaho. Within hours, he took a turn for the worse and required an emergency airlift to Seattle Children’s Hospital. We have had compounding miracles happen one after another since that moment. From the nurse at St. Luke’s who started noticing that something wasn’t right, to the Air St. Luke’s team that kept this boy alive on a two-hour flight, to the doctors and nurses who immediately began the fight to stabilize him and have continued to make every correct call from the moment we arrived to now. Brooks has battled so hard. He has demonstrated his will to live and keeps winning battles minute by minute and day by day. The prognosis when we first arrived was not one that any parent would want to hear. But as of the last 48 hours, things are looking like he is on the road to recovery. We are truly blessed not only by this little boy but to have our parents, family, and friends step up in so many ways. We have prayers being prayed in multiple states, and this little boy has impacted thousands of people already in his short little life. Please keep the prayers coming as we still have a journey in front of us. Tomorrow will be a big test for Brooks as they want to take him off his lung bypass machine (ECMO) to see if he can sustain his blood pressure naturally without assistance.
