Bronson’s Story

 

My dear friend’s seven week old son was just diagnosed with multiple congenital heart defects.

 

 

Matt & Rachel Bushnell welcomed their second child on April 16, 2022. To their surprise, baby BOY Bronson William Bushnell made his debut. At a mere seven weeks old, Rachel’s lactation consultant noticed Bronson’s heart murmur. Shortly thereafter, it was determined that sweet baby Bronson was born with tricuspid atresia coupled with an ASD & VSD. In less than a week, this beautiful family has faced the hardship of watching their seven week old son undergo open heart surgery. While his surgery today (6/9/22) went well, he has a long road ahead, with two more surgeries in his future.

 

The Bushnell Family

 

The Bushnell Family was beyond thrilled to welcome their beautiful boy, Bronson. However, it hasn’t been the easiest road. Matt has been recovering from knee surgery with the possibility of a second surgery, pending MRI results. Additionally, Bronson recently had a lip and tongue revision to promote a better latch when nursing and improve weight gain. While this was the center of Rachel’s focus as a nursing mother (not to mention, seven weeks postpartum), it was by the grace of God her lactation consultant heard a heart murmur ultimately leading to where they are today. Alongside all this, both Matt & Rachel were learning the new dynamics of parenting two kiddos — one of, being their beautiful, energetic 3 year old, Roxie girl.

Bottom line: Every. Dollar. Helps. Rachel & Matt are both off work, and bills do not stop. Now there is the HEFTY addition of medical bills.
