Baby Brittany and mom, Kelly, are at Children's Hospital in Boston while dad, Luke, is home in Pittsfield with siblings, Chelsea, 3 1/2 and Bryan, 1 1/2.
This family is doing their best while they try to find out why Brittany is having trouble breathing without the help of oxygen or a bipap machine. When Baystate Medical Center felt a transfer was in their best interest, they struggle with insurance and then made the trek farther from home to Boston to try to find answers.
As the approach the end of Kelly's maternity leave, Brittany is almost two months old, the family will need help. In spite of the dozens of tests, the don't know why Brittany stops breathing and repeated episodes can cause damage to her tiny brain. Brittany has been diagnosed with sleep apnea and the family is most recently awaiting results of genetic tests including a test for CCHS, Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome.
The Kendigs will need help with medical bills and to replace lost income so they can take continue to care for their family and regular household expenses until they have the answers they need. At this time they don't know if Brittany will need extended care once the have a diagnosis. Your help will truly make a difference in giving this family the ability to focus on what's most important and is so much appreciated.
