Baby Braylan

Hi, my name is Karagan. I am a single mother of two beautiful boys. Uriah is 2 year old and Braylan is 7.5 month old. These past 7.5 months have been the toughest months for our family. Braylan was born with a congenital heart defect. The diagnosis of his defect is Single Ventricle Heart Defect. He also has these defects as well; VSD, Tricuspid atresia, Transposition on the Great Arteries, Hypoplastic Aortic Arch, Hypoplastic Right Ventricle. With that being said he was to have 3 stages of open heart surgery to fix all of this. But unfortunately he has had some major issues along the way since his first stage of surgery. Causing him to have 3 major open heart surgeries, 2 other open chest "washouts" to fix active bleeds. In between each surgery he had complications. Some of these complications are; Clotting off the shunt they put in his heart 2 times, 2 rounds of ECMO, going into cardiac arrest multiple times, having seizures, having a small brain bleed, being on a ventilator due to needing respiratory support, neck surgery because of ECMO, he also ended up having a blood clot in his heart and his last surgery was for a feeding tube because he was born with a cleft palate and can't drink normally. Eventually he was discharged. A few days after Easter he caught a fever of 102, he was taken to the ER. He had an infection in his feeding tube site and was sent home with an antibiotic. The following day I received a call from the hospital saying he has to be readmitted because of a blood infection. Weeks after fighting the blood infection off he was having respiratory issues and bradycardia. His oxygen saturations dropped as low as the high 40s. They did a CT to see what was going on. From there they couldn't find a reason to why this was happening so they wanted to proceed with a heart cath procedure. But in the midst of all this, one night he was very lethargic and wasn't responding to them messing with him so when they did the heart CT, they also did a brain CT. Before moving on with the heart cath I was told terrible news about his brain. I was told his brain has suffered a lot of damage that he only had a thin layer of living brain left. They told me he would live in a vegetative state plus high amounts of seizure meds and if I'd continue with the procedures he'd need down the road for his heart it could cause more damage and could be what would eventually end his life. After being told all of this I have come to what has been the hardest decision of my life to bring him home and go through hospice care. With all of this going on these past 7.5 months I have not been able to work for most of the time. I recently just found out that I need major repairs on my car. I need a new transmission, an axel, and an oil pan. I'm looking at an estimate of $8,000 for repairs. Unfortunately since I haven't been working I can't afford the repairs for my car or eventually the expenses for his funeral.
