Baby Brave's Journey

Meet the Lee Family & Baby Brave's unexpected arrival.

 

In January 2022, Nick & Shacreya found out that they were expecting their long-awaited second baby. From the beginning, the pregnancy was off to a rocky start. Nick & Shacreya spent many hours at doctor's appointments and had many sleepless nights. Shacreya had low hCG levels (human chorionic gonadotropin), meaning that her levels were not rising at the same speed as a normal pregnancy. At this point, the doctor warned them the likelihood of a miscarriage was high. Nevertheless, the Lee Family & their community continued to keep faith that everything would be ok and they would soon be blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby.

 

On May 1st, The Lee family found out they were expecting another baby boy to join Eli. Surrounded by their friends and family, Eli expressed that he was hoping for a girl but was still thrilled to be a big brother to Baby Boy Lee.

 

 

On the evening of May 19th, Shacreya started experiencing unfortunate complications with the pregnancy that led them to seek immediate medical attention. Within one hour of reaching the hospital, they soon learned that Baby Lee was breach, and the doctors were struggling to find a consistent heartbeat. At just 21 weeks pregnant, Shacreya was given an emergency C-Section. At 11:02 pm, The Lee Family welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Brave James Lee, weighing 1 pound 1 ounce. 

 

Since Brave joined the world four months early, he was immediately transferred to one of Minnesota's top Children's Hospitals. Due to her own medical needs, Shacreya could not join Brave until Friday evening. Brave is in the NICU as a micro preemie receiving all medical treatment and will remain there at least until his original due date of September 21st. 

 

 

Nick and Shacreya are also in the process of closing on their new home, set for June 2nd. Unfortunately, there is a potential that they could lose this home due to Shacreya's inability to work and be there for Brave's minute-to-minute medical decisions.
