My Baby boy’s congenital heart defect fundraiser

Hello- my name is Magda Farid, and I am starting this Go Fund Me Fundraiser for my baby boy Anthony Joseph Rudi that was born on January 19, 2023.

My baby boy has been diagnosed with a congenital Heart Defect that consists of 1) Ventricular Septum Defect (VSD), which is an abnormal large hole between the two chambers of the heart, his being 10x larger than a normal sized hole. 2) Hyperplastic aortic arch which is a (blocked aortic arch which means his heart cannot pump enough blood to his body) which is going to require him to have emergency life saving open heart surgery. 3) it was also discovered that baby boy has mitral valve stenosis which is a narrowing of the valve between the two left heart chambers. The narrowed valve reduces or blocks blood flow into the heart’s main pumping chamber. The lower left heart chamber is also called the left ventricle which is also enlarged compared to the right ventricle, making the right ventricle work twice as hard to pump blood flow to the rest of his body.

All of this has put my pregnancy at a very high risk, and I was told by the pediatric cardiologist that my baby boy will need immediate heart surgery after delivery. He will be born in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) at St. Joseph’s Womens’ Hospital in Tampa bay, Florida. This is where he will undergo open heart surgery to correct these defects, and to save his precious life. The open heart surgery is scheduled for Friday January 27, 2023. So far the doctors have been keeping him alive by a medication called Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). It is used to keep the ductus arteriosus patent and can be life‐saving in neonates with ductal‐dependent cardiac lesions. PGE1 is used to promote mixing of pulmonary and systemic blood flow or improve pulmonary or systemic circulations, prior to surgery.

At the moment, my health insurance does not cover these procedures. I have recently been put off work for the reason of high risk pregnancy, and threatened pre term labor.

This Go Fund Me page is setup to help with the overwhelming expenses I am facing now and over the next several months, recovery will take baby a month or more in the PCICU and I will be by his side until he recovers fully, and we are cleared to take him home. I am asking that you kindly send many prayers. I am asking the community, friends, and family for any donations in this time of hardship.

God says he loves a cheerful giver and says if you give (sow) you will be blessed (reap) by god in return. (Luke 6:38). Proverbs 28:27 says those who give to the poor (those in need) will lack for nothing.
