Loveness came into my life during a difficult time. Our oldest son had passed away in February 2016 and my husband Jim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late spring 2016. Jim had received a phone call "out of the blue" from this woman looking to pick blueberries in Langley with her two sons. That summer as we got to know Loveness (and her friend Tendayii), we felt strongly that God had sent them to us. They've been a tremendous blessing and we felt it was one of the many ways God was taking care of us. We felt they truly cared about us, about our little hobby blueberry farm, and that it was about more than just picking blueberries. They became friends.
This summer (in July) we got to know about her nephew, Blessed, who lives in Zimbabwe. Blessed is Loveness' little brother's son. Blessed started with pain on his gum and the doctor had said it was a tooth abscess. The growth started to grow aggressively on his left upper gum making his eye bulge out. Eventually the growth was surgically removed along with his upper gum. and he was recovering well.
But, sad to say, it started growing again before the reconstructive surgery. This time the biopsy showed that it was cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma (such a big name for a little boy).
Loveness emailed me the following a couple of days ago:
"Blessed isn't doing well. I managed to speak with the surgeon and was notified that biopsy came back positive for cancer. The tumor continues to grow and it has covered completely his left eye. Last week they had to do an emergency tracheostomy surgery as he was having breathing difficulties. He started on chemotherapy on Friday. Taking it one day at a time. Some days are better and others not so well. His remaining eye started to swell too. Please continue to pray for my family. My brother is having a hard time... It has been challenging for his treatments as they require American dollars to buy the chemotherapy drugs and all the 4 surgeries he had.
Any financial help will be appreciated if anyone can help. I have been trying to keep up with the financial aspect of his treatment, but I'm asking for help from my close friends. God bless you as you continue to be part of Blessed's journey.
He celebrated his third birthday on Thanksgiving Day."
I asked Loveness if she had considered GoFundMe and she had not so I am starting this on her behalf. Loveness is a nurse and a single mom so financially this is a stretch. We need to raise money for chemotherapy, pain killers and surgery. As of today, they are waiting to see an ophthalmologist to talk about surgically removing his left eye.
Let's be a blessing to this little boy named Blessed. And thank-you in advance for your help.
