Baby Blake's Medical Fund

Thank you for taking just a minute to read this story. Blake is a beautiful, 3 month old baby girl. It took her parents, Megan and Jared, a considerable amount of time and effort to bring her into this world. Well, now that she’s here it turns out that Blake will need quite a bit of medical attention, to say the least. Upon discharge from the hospital, the pediatrician noticed a heart murmur and reffered Blake to see a pediatric cardiologist. After leaving the hospital, and getting an EKG and an echocardiogram, tests revealed that Blake has a rather large hole in her heart. This is known as a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) in the medical community. Since this can be common, Jared and Megan were told to come back in a few weeks for another echo. This time the tests revealed that sweet Blake had a few more complications...It was then they learned Blake has Tetralogy of Fallot.
Tetralogy of Fallot is a condition that involves 4 heart defects. These defects are VSD, overriding aorta (the aortic valve is enlarged and stems from both the left and right ventricles instead of the left ventricle as in normal hearts), pulmonary stenosis (narrowing of the pulmonary valve) and right ventricular hypertrophy (heart wall thickening). Essentially, these conditions allow unoxygenated blood to mix with oxygenated blood, ultimately causing less oxygen to be supplied to the whole body.
In order to correct these defects, Blake will require open heart surgery. She is scheduled for surgery later this month at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. She will be in the care of one of the best pedicatric medical teams in the country and there is no doubt she will be in excellent hands.
As any parent can imagine, at a time like this, a child's health is the first and only concern, but world class medical care doesn't come without a price tag. If you are so inclined, please consider donating to Blake's go fund me. We have setup this fund to help alleviate her surgical and ongoing medical expenses. Megan and Jared also ask that you join them in praying for Blake, her skilled medical team, and any hands invloved in her care and recovery. Thank you again for reading and sharing this story.
