Baby Billy Tongue & Lip Tie Release

As most people who know us it is very rare we will ever ask for help, whether it’s my partner baking, making or cooking or myself offering anything to anyone

we have found ourselves at a point of struggling to afford a procedure that will improve our babies overall health and well being

since our little guy was born 4 months ago he has had extreme difficulty in feeding often resulting in choking episodes, reflux, poor latch, mastitis, inability and refusal to drink from bottles often when he drinks from a bottle he will lose his latch suck in air and have a choking episode so potentially some bad associations with the bottle also. We have tried so many bottles and teats with no luck.

we were referred to the local children hospital, they have formally diagnosed Billy with laryngomalacia and severe posterior tongue tie with upper lip tie also. We were informed that they recommend releasing the ties and it will certainly improve his mouth function.

this would hopefully also mean he would be able to take bottles, eat and chew better and less likely for speech and dental issues down the track.

From a well known specialist (same specialist who did our daughters ties a few years ago), we were quoted for Billy $750 per tie (they recommended 2 ties) plus body work from a chiro or osteopath and involvement from a lactation consultant

a second clinic who offers a surgical cut release of ties have quoted $550 per tie and involvement from a Lactation consultant

this ultimately leaves us looking at a bill anywhere from $1500 to $3000

as I am both birth mother and main income earner this has put us in a difficult position, at this stage of maternity leave even with my partners income, I am meant to return to work for keeping in touch days that boosts our pay enough to pay all the bills and put food on the table without struggling too much, but it has been so difficult, baby Billy won’t drink more than 30 mls for 7hours while I’m gone (that includes me leaving early as he was not coping with the lack of food), this is leaving no money left to put aside for his much needed procedure.

a tongue tie might be a small issue but it is having a large impact on our beautiful boy and on our day to day life, I am currently breastfeeding for hours and hours during the day, then pumping to avoid mastitis that has hit me a few times due to his inability to drain my breast properly in an attempt to make sure he is putting on weight and growing happy and healthy but it’s not sustainable.
