We are trying to raise money to help Axl’s parents, Ricky & Ashlyn, with the excessive expenses related to being with Axl at the hospital during this journey and helping keep their normal bills paid. They also need a reliable gas saving car for the many trips to the hospital after Axl is eventually released.
Axl just turned 6 months old on November 4th! On November 2nd, doctors found a rather large tumor on Axl’s brain. After an emergency transport to the children’s hospital, and a long MRI with small anesthesia, they have determined the excessive amount of cerebrospinal fluid has made the tumor “spread”. There are small pieces in other parts of his brain and all down his spine. Axl will have surgery on 11/6 to remove the part of the brain tumor that can be removed. This will be sent to pathology to test for cancer. If the tumor is benign, Axl will have to have chemotherapy to help with the parts that cannot be removed with surgery. If the tumor is malignant, he will have to have radiation. Radiation in such a young child will cause long term physical and developmental disabilities.
