My name is Hailey. I am currently a stay at home mom to a beautiful little girl and my fiancé is a factory worker. We have been blessed with the opportunity to raise our second daughter after many hard and long months of trying and even struggling with a miscarriage last autumn. We recently found out that our daughter is 1 out of 2,000-3,600 babies to have been diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia. A diaphragmatic hernia is a birth defect in which her diaphragmatic muscle did not fully develop and it has caused certain organs that need to be in the belly area up into her chest. She will need surgery a few days after she is born, also spend 3 months at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Hospital of Chicago. We reside in Peoria, IL. and will have to travel to Chicago for every appointment. When I reach 37-38 weeks I will have to start staying in Chicago until I deliver or be induced at 39 weeks. My insurance does not cover all visits or tests that likely will be done after Averie is born. Like everyone else right now, money is tight and gas is not cheap. Any donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you.
