Baby Ava Jacobs.
Donation protected
Ava Jacobs was born with heterotaxy syndrome
,dextrocardia situs inversus , double outlet right ventricle , arterial septal defect , ventricle septal defect & she is asplenic.
She had to undergo her first heart operation at 7 weeks old. The operation was a PA band to control the blood flow to the lungs. As the lungs were flooded with blood.
She went for her 2nd heart surgery. The operation was the glenn shunt. It was already a high risk operation as the blood pressure in the lungs was higher than it should’ve been. All went well & she recovered wonderfully.
Unfortunately she was readmitted into hospital the same day she was discharged. She had right side pleural effusion (fluid on the lung).
They had to insert a drainpipe to get rid of the fluid. She was in the hospital for another week.
She was discharged & all was well. Ava was home for 3 days when mommy noticed Ava’s breathing is not good at all. They readmitted her. The x-ray confirmed that the fluid was back & this time it was on both lungs. So yet again 2 new drainpipes was inserted. She has been in hospital for a week now. The drainpipes are still draining.
Ava not having a spleen means that she can’t fight infections on her own. When she gets sick most of the time she needs to be hospitalised. So this funding will help for future hospital visits & all necessities Ava might need.
She is on a fat free diet. Special milk that costs roughly R1300-R1500 for a 400g tin. In hospital it is covered by the medical aid. But once she is discharged she has to be on the milk for roughly a month. Depending on what happens going forward.
For the time Ava is in hospital Mommy & Daddy needs to stay somewhere close to the hospital. They live 200km away from Sandton. Mommy can’t sleep at the hospital as Ava is in CTICU.
All donations are going towards future medical costs (shortfalls from the medical aid), accommodation costs , traveling & all the costs that may rise later. The rest is then kept in an account specifically for Ava.
All donations are greatly appreciated.
