My nephew Asher was born May 2020 with giant omphalocele, a birth defect with unknown cause that results in organs growing outside of the belly button. At one month old Asher is still in the NICU and will have a lengthy road to recover requiring multiple surgeries. Despite several complications early on, Asher has gotten stronger and is showing amazing improvement. Asher's mom is a healthcare worker who was unable to work leading up to his birth due to state restrictions regarding pregnancy and Covid- yet she was not eligible for unemployment as pregnancy is considered a pre-existing condition. She may also need to return to work before Asher can be released home. Due to the pandemic, Asher's mom and dad are unable to visit with him together in the hospital and have to rotate visitations to the hospital two hours away from home.
Please consider donating to help Asher and his family cover medical bills, travel, and future operation cost if you are able. I know it is a difficult time for everybody and we deeply appreciate any support. If you are unable to contribute monetarily, prayers are more than welcome!
