Help baby Andre give clean water to people in Africa
Baby Andre was born in an emergency procedure on August 29, 2017 at 27 weeks gestational age. He was very strong, full of energy and had a will for life. Although he fought courageously, at the tender age of 3 days old, we had to say goodbye. He passed away in our arms, showered with love, hugs, and prayers.
Andre was wanted more than anything, we miss him tremendously and will always love him. We will miss so much – his laughs and cries, his first Christmas, first steps, first day in kindergarten, and school. He left us wondering what he would be like had he lived. We wonder how he would grow and mature, what he would like, his profession, and hobbies...an entire lifetime lost.
We believe that he would been a good person, who would care for others as his parents do. Andre’s dad devotes his life to helping people in Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Darfur, and Haiti to have access to clean water and safe cooking. His mom is pursuing a mental health counseling profession to help people through difficult crisis in their lives and devastating losses like this one.
We think that being our child, Andre would want to extend his heart and support to others who are in need. He cannot do this by himself now, but we can help his spirit do it by donating towards providing access to clean water in rural areas of Uganda.
1 in 12 Ugandan children die before the age of five due to preventable diseases contracted from contaminated drinking water. Most villagers are forced to drink from dirty water sources or to walk inordinate distances to collect water. With your support, the Andre Memorial Fund will provide one deep borehole in the rural area of Apac district in Uganda.
After thorough research, we have chosen the Miciri B village in the Ibuje sub county of Apac District, Uganda as the site of Andre’s memorial borehole. The village has a population of 783 (431 female and 352 male). This borehole will provide clean water daily for many years.
We would love to celebrate his first heavenly birthday by making this happen.
