Baby Amina Rose on her journey to health
Donation protected
Amina is a beautiful 13 month old baby girl who just celebrated her first birthday on 2/2.
Amina was rushed into the ER on March 11th with a fever of 105. 5. Thankfully the doctors moved quickly and tried to figure out what was causing it but unfortunately all they could tell us was as that her body was fighting an infection. Lots of tests were done to determine what was wrong. She was given oxygen and antibiotics. We were told they the enzymes needed to fight infection were 0. Eventually, the doctors found signs of infection but since she was given antibiotics in the ER, they could not pinpoint what kind of infection. 4 days in at the golisano hospital and we still had no idea what was going on, her fever was at 104.7 despite being on antibiotics and Tylenol. Her poor body was fighting this so hard she was extremely swollen and had blisters all over her body.
Amina tested positive for a blood infection Staphylococcus. A blood infection with a very high mortality rate. Amina had to have her blood drawn every day and be given antibiotics medicine through IV. she like any baby at her age struggled with this.
As you can imagine getting a 13 month to sit still while she’s being poked and prodded should be an Olympic sport. Thankfully a PICC line was placed in her arm as a more permanent solution to get her the meds. This procedure involved Amina going under general anesthesia. Fortunately, it was very beneficial. She is getting her medicine faster and does not need to be poked for blood work anymore. She’s spent 13 days in the golisano children’s hospital. This is her third hospitalization in 13 months
Amina has survived a dangerous blood borne staphylococcal infection. While that kind of bacteria is dangerous at any age it’s especially difficult to fight off when you also have chronic disease Neutropenia, which was discovered during her hospital stay after having dangerously low neutrophils in her white blood cells.
This is now Amina’s 3rd illness that has been so serious it’s landed her in the children’s hospital for days at a time. This neutropenia disease makes Amina at high risk any time she gets sick and will require constant care.
Laura, her mother, has insurance coverage but the bills are starting to pile up from all of Amina’s hospitalizations and she needs help. We’re asking for any monetary donations in hopes of helping pay these bills in this difficult time.
Amina is a warrior! She has proven how smart and strong she is time and time again and now her little body needs to rest as we gather together as a team to find the best doctors and team of professionals to fight for her future and for her recovery to health.
Any help is appreciated thank you!
